Brisbane Forum

By invitation

Brisbane’s restructuring profession. In one room.

A closed network of trusted insolvency, legal and finance professionals in South East Queensland. We meet each summer in Brisbane and each winter overseas, speak plainly, and keep what is said in the room.

About the Forum

A trusted room for Queensland’s hardest situations.

Brisbane Forum brings together the registered liquidators, restructuring lawyers, lenders and advisers who work on distressed matters across Queensland. Many of us sit on opposite sides of the same file. The Forum gives us a place to meet before that happens.

It is not a conference and not a networking club. There are no sponsors on stage, no sales pitches and no attendee lists handed out. Each forum is small, curated and run under the Chatham House Rule, so members can talk candidly about the market, the courts and the practice.

Members are invited because their peers trust them. That is the only qualification that matters here.

Summer Forum

Our home forum opens the year in Brisbane. A closed session on the outlook for Queensland restructuring: the matters likely to land on our desks, the judgments that changed practice last year, and where pressure is building in construction, property and private credit.

Winter Forum

Six months later, members travel offshore for the mid-year forum. Over two to three days we meet local insolvency practitioners, judges and lenders, and look at cross-border recognition, offshore assets and how other jurisdictions handle the problems we see at home.

The Summer Forum is held each January in Brisbane and the Winter Forum each July overseas. Venues, destinations and programmes are shared with members by invitation. Members arrange their own travel for the Winter Forum, with group arrangements offered where possible.

How we work

Selective by design.

Invitation only

There is no public registration. Members join through introduction by an existing member or by approach from the convening committee.

Chatham House Rule

Members may use what is said, but never who said it or who was present. No recordings, no press, no social posts from the room.

Seniority and standing

The Forum is for practitioners who lead matters. Standing in the profession and the trust of peers count for more than title or firm size.

No selling

Members attend as peers. Forums carry no sponsor sessions, and the member list is never shared or used for marketing.
